How We Got Started

The story behind Clay Paul.

Matthew and Justin Arnold are inseparable, probably because they’re twins. After graduating from Texas Tech University in 2000, they went straight to work for a national home builder. In 2003, they took a leap of faith and started their own home building company. Within three years, they were building 200+ homes a year. Then the housing market crash of 2007 happened and the twins searched deep within themselves to find what their truest motivations were. They realized that improving people’s quality of life and helping them protect what matters most was what they wanted to do with the rest of their lives, starting an insurance company was the most logical next step.

When Clay Paul Insurance Agency was founded in 2008, it was just the two of them in a 300 sq ft. office. They worked tirelessly, and in 2011, they hired their first employee. Since then CPG acquired William Palmer Agency (voted best customer service in 2016 by D Magazine) and has grown to 25 employees in a 5,000sq ft. corporate office in Irving, Texas, with offices in California and South Carolina. To date, CPG is a 35 million dollar a year company with more than 30,000 active customers.
